Earthquake in India, Nepal, Bangladesh & Tibet
Sadness envelops the nation with the earthquake measuring 6.8 Richter scale stuck the Northern & Eastern parts of the country. Nepal, Tibet & Bangladesh also witnessed the same turmoil. Over 25 people have lost their lives comprising 13 Indians, 5 Nepalese and 7 Tibetans. Key points of the tragedy:
- The epicenter of the quake was nearly 64km away from Gangtok, the state Capital of Sikkim.
- Sikkim is stun with 7 people killed including two army men and 33 being injured.
- Bihar is evidencing the chaos with two people dead including a seven year old girl.
- Latehar is the worst smothered by quake resulting in the death of 2 men & the visible cracks on the walls of the houses.
- 4 people are killed in West Bengal anarchy of higher magnitude quake.
- The disaster took a heavy toll with 100 of people being killed with many injured.
- Roads are cracked.
- Many houses are ruined with a fall on street & deadly cracks. Notably Sikkim Manipal University, a renounced university also got several cracks in the calamity.
- After effects of grave earth quake measuring 5.7, 5.1 & 4.6 Richter scale also shook Sikkim.
- Uproar of the disaster in Sikkim is echoed world widely with no communication network and no physical network with damaged roads.
- Quiver was felt in various parts of the nation Patna, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi and NCR.
- Over 4000 work force is involved in the rescue operations. ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police), NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and 5 special teams of Kolkata are very active saving people. About 15 foreign tourists & 150 villagers were saved by ITBP. Five Air Force planes have been arranged to rescue the people.
- Engineers & doctors have been rushed to the place to treat the injured & clear the blockages of the highway.
- Delhi, the National Capital has also witnessed the jerks for 5 to 6 seconds at nearly 11:28pm on Wednesday. People rushed out of their houses.
- A small magnitude quake of 4.2 Richter scale hit the Sonepat State of Haryana.
- Gaziabad, Noida & Uttar Pradesh also observed the shake with the epicenter Sonipat.
Horrifying consequences of the natural calamity has shocked the nation. The shiver can be felt by each one of us. Let us pray for the sufferers and further request the almighty to come to the rescue of mankind.
