Bhoomi Movie Review: Sanjay Dutt, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharad Kelkar

Today, at the box office, released Sanjay Dutt, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shekhar Suman and Sharad Kelkar starrer Bhoomi which is directed by Omung Kumar. Sanjay Dutt was last seen in an extended cameo role in 2014 released film P.K and with Bhoomi, he is making his Bollywood come back.

The plot of Bhoomi is similar to Sridevi’s Mom, where she takes law in her hand and punish the rapist of her daughter. Similarly, Bhoomi aka Aditi Rao Hydari playing the role of Arun Sachdeva aka Sanjay Dutt’s daughter who does not have a mother. Arun Sachdeva’s daughter gets gang-raped a day before her marriage.

Three people were involved in her rape, a guy named Vishal who loved Bhoomi, Dhauli aka Sharad Kelkar and Dhauli’s right hand. But somehow they managed to prove themselves innocent and escaped from the court, then Arun decides to punish them in order to give justice to her daughter.

So does Arun Sachdeva got to succeed in his motive? What is the reason of Bhoomi’s rape? What happened on Bhoomi’s wedding day? How did the accuse manage to escape from the court? To know all this you have to watch the film, as I am here to review the film not to tell you the story. So now let’s see the film from my perspective.

The plot of the film is really good, but if Raaj Shaandilyaa and Sandeep Singh work little more on the story and script, then the film becomes super hit and Sanjay Dutt’s will be able to come back with a bang. But we regret that it doesn’t happen.

Bhoomi is Omung Kumar’s third directorial venture after Mary Kom and Sarabjit. But his direction in Bhoomi is quite disappointing. After every scene, you can easily guess what next, so it is a very predictable film. Bhoomi could have been a good thriller film but lost due to a not so good story, screenplay, and direction.

If we talk about acting, Sanjay Dutt’s acting is commendable in this film. He lives the character of an afflicted and furor person very insightly and beautifully on screen. Aditi Rao Hydari has played her character very well, where Shekhar Suman is seen in a small role of Sanjay’s friend has put life into his role. Sharad Kelkar’s performance is also very strong, who played the role of dhauli. Apart from them, all the other actors did a great job.

The cinematography of the film is also great, Sunny Leone is seen in a song ‘Trippy Trippy, which looks good on-screen and we can say that it is an item song.

Now it comes to my verdict. So if you are Sanjay Dutt’s fan, then this film is for you and you should watch it. Otherwise, it is a film with a superb actors and a poor story, screenplay, and direction. My rating for this film is 2 out of 5.
