In this year, Dhanush is all set to explore different sides of him. After a successful directorial debut with Power Pandi, the actor-director is all set to make another debut and this time in Hollywood. Yes, you read it right. Dhanush has begun shooting for his Hollywood debut film, ‘The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir’.
The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name. He begins the shooting in Mumbai and the pictures from the sets is going viral. The film was announced early last year and had received significant changes in its cast and crew.
Initially, an Iran-born, French-based filmmaker Marjane Satrapi was announced as the director of the film and later was replaced by Ken Scott. According to a report, Scott came on board a few months ago to rework the script and direct the movie, which is scheduled to begin in May in Mumbai, Paris, Brussels and Rome.
Recently actor Berenice Bejo was added to the cast and apart from it Erin Moriarty, Barkhad Abdi, Laurent Lafitte and Abel Jafri are the rest of the star cast beside Dhanush, the actor will play the lead role.
The movie is touted to be one of the most ambitious Hollywood projects. The movie is about a Fakir named Ajatashatru Oghash Rathod, who tricks people into believing that he possesses special powers.
If we talk about the novel, which the movie has adapted, It is an extraordinary journey of the Fakir who got trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe and it was the debut novel of Romain Puertolas, which was translated into 35 languages.
Director Ken Scott said, “What’s great is I get to work with a great actor, Dhanush, who is a huge star in India, he’s a great actor, but also a great dancer, a great singer, he has a unique way of dancing and moving, he’s just very charming.”
Dhanush started the shooting for this movie, after wrapping up the shoot for his gangster movie Vada Chennai. He is also expected to start shooting for Balaji Motion’s Maari 2 from August.
