Bollywood Films Where Dogs Are The Real Heroes

“Not every person knows how to love a dog, but every dog knows how to love a person.” And our Bollywood movies are proof of the same. Humans and dogs share a special relationship and some of the filmmakers explain this relationship beautifully on the silver screen.

So here are some of the Bollywood hits where dogs played a memorable role and steal the show, as they are the real heroes of these movies.

Sachaa Jhutha (1970)

Moti a loyal dog of hero’s disabled sister who has come to town to look for her missing brother. The brother has evil look-alike and Moti can identify the real one. They evil one tried to kill the dog but he evades capture and fakes his own death. And then he reaches the courtroom to testify at the eventful trail to determine who the imposter is.

Betaab (1983)

In this movie, the lead actor’s has a best friend, a Labrador named Bozo. His constant companion through highs and lows and it seems that Bozo understands the hero better than even the actress. And in action sequence, Bozo plays the dog who saves the actress.

Teri Meherbaniyan (1985)

The film where a dog actually plays the role of the hero. In the movie villains murder Ram and frame his friend Gopi as guilty. Ram’s dog Brownie who was the only witness of the act undertakes the task of avenging its master’s death and become successful in his mission. Brownie was shown as affectionate canine, an action hero, a dog who loves his master deeply and how can we forget the scene where he visits his master’s grave.

Bol Radha Bol (1992)

When enemies of rich businessman Kishen brought his duplicate to occupy his wealth. Kishen beats his dog Moti for not identifying him, as dogs are known to be the most loyal companions and can never get wrong in identifying their real masters. But the villains have bought a replacement of Moti as well. Even after getting a bad beating he remains quite and doesn’t retaliate, the immense love and respect for his master melt everyone’s, heart.

Maa (1992)

The film is a supernatural movie where a dog named Dobby played an important role. In the movie the lead actress was murdered by her husband’s money hungry relatives. She as a ghost seeks to save her son and also want to take revenge from her killers. No one can hear her except the family dog who helped her and protect her son.

Hum Aapke Hai Koun (1994)

Who doesn’t remember Tuffy? The white furry Pomeranian, who is the best cricket umpire we can ever have. Not only this Tuffy plays a pivotal role in giving a happy ending, for which he received many blessings. The perfect dog who understands his humans very well.

Halo (1996)

The movie is about an innocent girl and her puppy Halo. One day her puppy got lost and she begins finding him which took the little girl to Mumbai. She then met an elderly couple only to realise that they have a disabled kid who has her pup. She was dying to get her pup back but when she realises that the kid needs Halo more and thus forfeits her ownership. It is a Nation Award winning movie.

Chillar Party (2011)

The movie wins National Award, presents the story of a group of children living in a society. The group adds a new member in the form of Fatka and his dog Bhidu. The drama starts when a politician decides to get rid of all stray dogs of the city and chillar party can save Bhidu only if they get 50% votes. The kids put their efforts, the dog was the center around of the film and promote the bond of friendship between humans and dogs.

It’s Entertainment (2014)

The star of the movie is a dog named Entertainment. Akshay Kumar is the son of a filthy rich man, who pledges all his wealth in the name of his dog Entertainment. Akshay wished to kill the dog for his father’s money but when Akshay was in trouble Entertainment saved his life and they both develops a bond.

Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)

Leave aside the superstar cast of the movie, the most important part of the film and Mehra family was Pluto Mehra. The one who narrate the story of his family, surely steals the limelight.
