Newton is an upcoming black comedy film by Amit V Masurkar. The film is produced by Drishyam Films and features Rajkummar Rao. After having its world premiere in the Forum section of the 67th Berlin Film Festival and is set to have its North American premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Now it is finally going to release in India and the makers of the film also released the trailer of ‘Newton’ on Tuesday. In this political black comedy, Rajkumar plays the character of a rookie clerk on election duty in a conflict ridden jungle of Chhattisgarh.
Rao looks intriguing in the trailer, Newton tries his best to conduct free and fair voting despite the apathy of security forces, and the looming fear of an attack by Maoist rebels. All this forms the crux of the story.
In the recently released, two-and-half-minute trailer sees the story which unfolds layer by layer. The video starts with the scene where Newton and his family comes to see his prospective bride. The story has been shot in the jungles of Chhattisgarh in Central India and couldn’t be more India in its taste.
The film is scheduled to release on September 22, 2017.
