It’s been years that Star Plus’s popular show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ is running successfully. In the past few months the show has seen few up and downs especially when the lead actors Hina Khan (Akshara) and Karan Mehra (Naitik) left the show, with them their onscreen son Rohan Mehra (Naksh) too quit the popular show.
Now another actress and rumour girlfriend of Rohan Mehra is about to quit the show and she is Kanchi Singh. The actress plays the role of Gayatri aka Gayu in the show. The actress came on board last year when the show took a leap and now it seems that she got bored with her role.
As per reports, she is not very happy with the way her character is progressing and feels that Gayu has been totally sidelined on the show. Kanchi has already put in her papers and is currently serving the notice period of three months.
“Kanchi wasn’t happy with the way her track was shaping up. Her character was sidelined and after much contemplation, she decided to call it quits. She will shoot her last episode around the end of September,” an insider told TOI.
She confirmed the news to the daily and said, “Yes, I have quit the show. I didn’t see any future for my character. I totally understand that shifting focus from a popular couple – Kartik and Naira – to any other character could be detrimental to the show, but my character was completely sidelined in the bargain. I wish the Yeh Rishta… team all the best. I’ll always be indebted to producer Rajan Shahi, who launched me in the industry. I would like to play meaningful characters now and have decided to take up only lead roles.”
When asked if she discussed the move with her boyfriend Rohan, who quit the show last year for Bigg Boss, she said, “We keep our professional lives separate. Just like him, I discuss my professional life only with my family. He has nothing to do with my decision to quit the show.”
According to reports Kanchi Singh will be next seen in the horror genre in a web series.
