On Pratyusha Banerjee’s First Death Anniversary- Have A Look At Her Life

Last year on April 1, we lost young and talented actress Pratyusha Banerjee. A girl from Jharkhand made an instant impact on the minds of the audience when she portrays the young character of Anandi in Balika Vadhu. She becomes known face in households across India.

The actress quit the show in seek of new opportunities. And her last show was the power couple with beau Rahul Raj before committing suicide. Pratyusha who came to Mumbai in 2010 to pursue the career in the glamour industry. She started off with a show on NDTV Imagine and later bagged the lead role in Balika Vadhu.

She became everyone’s favourite and after three years she quit the show to participate in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 which she left midway. Then she was seen in Bigg Boss 7, where she was hugely competitive and formed a lasting friendship with Kamya Punjabi.

After a couple of cameos as a host in episodic shows like Savdhaan India, Pratyusha again bagged the lead role in Sony TV’s Hum Hai Na. The show went off-air soon and post that she did not get any good roles.

Balika Vadhu fame did a number of cameos in shows like Gulmohar Grand, Swaragini, Sasural Simar Ka, Yeh Vada Raha, and so on. Her last notable show was Sony Tv’s Power Couple, a reality show in which she participated with her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh.

On April 1, 2016, Pratyusha bid adieu to this world and her suicide sent shockwaves across the industry. While stories of financial bankruptcy, career failure, etc did the rounds but as per her close friends the reason was something else. Some say the reason behind her big step was depression and heartbreak and everyone blames her beau.

Pratyusha’s close friend Kamya Punjabi released the teaser of her last work, a short film titled ‘Hum Kuchh Keh Na Saakey’ and said she will release the film online on her first death anniversary, which is today. Pratyusha’s boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh objected to it and reports say a stay order has been passed against it.

Kamya Punjabi also posted an emotional post on Twitter for her with her cute picture, the post reads “Ek saal ho gaye…. pagal kahi ki…. Bas tu khush rehna yaara”.

 

The movie is a work of fiction but relates to the actress real life, it is about depression and heartbreak. The death of Pratyusha showed us the fragility of life and a mirror into the stress of modern urban life where support systems are few and far.
